Repurposed Sewing Machine Makes For An Adorable DIY Dining Nook

love looking for home decor and furnishings online or at stores, but it’s even more fun when you can add your own personal touch to something. That’s what really makes a house feel more like your own, after all. It can be something simple, like sprucing up your nightstand with some mirrors, or shining light on your knickknacks with a clever frame.

For this house, they were looking for a project that would give them both a place to eat their meals and a way to repurpose their vintage sewing machine table legs. The ornate design had rusted over time and was in need of a new paint job, but that was only half the battle.

By grabbing some wood planes and learning as they went along, this home suddenly got a whole lot cozier by the end of their project. They didn’t have a lot of space to work with, but they managed to make the most of it!

They started with a pine butcher block measuring 210 cm by 122 cm, using this for the tabletop. They were a little upset to discover it was bent, but luckily, the wood flattened out with some pressure.

They used no power tools, just a regular saw. It was a bit of a learning process to figure out exactly how to make it saw straight, but it worked out in the end.

Then it was time to screw together the bench bases.
